Contemporary sculpture inspired by nature

A practising artist and wood sculptor with over 40 years of experience.

A freelance graphic designer/ illustrator for 40 years, I am now developing a life long interest in wood sculpture embracing the study of form inspired by nature. Calling on design skills and a lifetime of experience in the use of traditional carving tools, I take my inspiration from the natural world, especially the unique and unusual world of plants and flowers. My work has taken me on an evolving journey, taking in beautifully carved wood sculpture for public and private collections, large public works and traditionally carved signage.

I have exhibited widely throughout the Midlands, and in 2010 I was made an Associate of the Royal Society of Birmingham Artists (ARBSA). I am a regular exhibitor at Nature in Art in Gloucestershire, where I have been an Artist in Residence every year for the last 20 years, and also run yearly weekend carving courses.

Individually designed, traditionally hand carved signage and commemorative projects produced for:

Many private commissions including GKN Conservation Awards 2006/2007 awarded to GKN USA and Brazil.

All my earlier public works in Staffordshire are listed and illustrated in PMSA National Archive held at the Courtauld Institute; The Staffordshire Volume 2003
